Colleagues from DLP on the Isle of Man recently took part in their first Helping Hands volunteering project at Curraghs Wildlife Park.

Through the scheme, team members from across AKW and DLP are encouraged to participate in charitable initiatives in their local communities as part of their employment, with 300 paid volunteering days available to use across the year.

The team’s first task involved dismantling an existing indoor play frame for the Park’s resident Macaques – highly adaptable primates whose various species are considered vulnerable or officially endangered. They then spent time installing a brand-new frame and play equipment for the Macaques to enjoy for years to come.

Company Accountant, Kerrianne Doyle said “this project confirmed that there is no ‘I’ in team – it took every volunteer to complete the task and required us to come out of our comfort zones.”

DLP also donated materials to be repurposed into tabletops and feeding tables, which were very well received by the Macaques and Silvery Gibbons at Curraghs.

Well done team!
